A little piece of Lebanon
As has been well documented, we love ethnic food. We love foods from all corners of the world, and we won’t apologize for it. One thing we love when we travel is to enjoy the cuisine (as evidenced by the first two months of this blog’s entries) and every time we go out to eat at an ethnic food restaurant, we dream out loud between the two of us about how we’d like to go to the place the food came from.
The place we say this most about is Lebanon. This is because in the convenience of all conveniences, my parents have a completely phenomenal Lebanese restaurant (in a strip mall, no less) that is literally within walking distance. It’s called Oasis Lebanese Cuisine, and while they don’t appear to have a Web site, if you are within 100 miles and reading this, you must absolutely go to Oasis. It’s located in the Murray Scholls shopping center at, well, the corner of Murray Rd. and Scholls Ferry. The people who own this place are lovely, the food is scrumptious and yet every time we walk by, all the tables are empty. It’s already been sold once, and if Eric and I have to give up their fabulous falafel sandwiches becuase not enough people eat there, we’re not going to be happy. Do your duty to us and to our neighborhood.
More food coverage tomorrow as we’re enjoying an old Beaverton haunt tonight with Julie and Dan. Dan just finished his classes for his MBA! Amazing. Congrats, D-Money.

So, your parents are definitely within walking distance of me, because I live on that same intersection. Weird!
I’ve always wondered about that Lebanese place. Glad to hear it’s recommended! I think any time that I’ve walked over there for ethnic food, I’ve been sucked in by the Indian place. I just can’t resist yummy curry. So good…
Have you had Thai Flavor, a little further up Scholl’s Ferry? For the longest time, I didn’t want to try it, because I hate subpar Thai food. But a friend recommended it, and now it’s definitely a local favorite!
Let’s see, what else is there to love on the Scholl’s/Murray intersection… For some gourmet pizza, Pizzicato’s thai chicken pizza may have changed my life.
…Hollywood Video turned into Mark’s, and from the posters on the windows, the prices look fantastic.
…and when you’re shopping at Safeway, try to go through Byron’s checkout line. He’s this hilarious old man who always holds up the entire line to tell me random stories from his life, and it makes my day.
Leaving Beaverton just a teensy bit, I should put in my usual plug. Be sure to venture down to Bridgeport Village sometime and get Pudding on the Rice. I can give you an entire disseration on my love for that place!
What a small world! We were a little scared to try Oasis since it had changed ownership and we thought the previous owners were so nice! While we only had the sandwiches I would say that it was as good as the previous owners, and the lady who served us was very sweet. The carrot juice that made us was great too.
We haven’t tried Thai Flavor, but we definitely be sure to check it out. Pizzicato is great too, I totally agree that their thai chicken pizza is fabulous! (I shouldn’t be thinking about it before bed!).
I will be sure to check out Pudding on the Rice as well, sounds fabulous!
Cheers,
Eric
