The Pledge

In an (almost silly) attempt to not gain too much weight while we’re here in Buenos Aires, we made a pact to only have ice cream twice a week. I know that seems like a lot, but the ice cream is so seriously yummy that we had to make a rule.

Persicco makes pointy cones!

Last week, we went twice. But we went on Sunday, and then again on Monday. So then we had to wait all week long until Sunday rolled around again (who knew we were so good at following rules?) Long story short, I’ve been jones-ing for an ice cream for a long time.

Itamae Sushi's bar area

We went to our favorite sushi spot again tonight, Itamae Sushi - it’s really good! - and then went to Persicco, where the line was longer than ever. Looks like word’s getting out about our favorite spot.

Since we always write about food (and by “we,” I clearly mean “me”) here’s a fun one: Eric ordered a hamburger today for lunch, and it was the most ridiculously huge thing he ever had. He only got about 10 bites into it before he had to stop. The ten bites, by the way, were with a knife and fork, because that was the only way to go about it. It had two huge hamburger patties (which were loaded full of herbs which overpowered the meat), about a half pound of cheese, a Thanksgiving-size slab of ham, a fried egg and a small salad-sized patch of lettuce and tomatoes. Ridiculous. Not to mention the dinner plate heaped with fries that came on the side. He didn’t even want to talk about food for many hours afterward.

Love the blog! It’s amazing how many expats find the same similarities. We have the same issue with ice cream too! Persico is great!
